Sydney University 150th Anniversary

The Brief

Sydney University wanted to celebrate the milestone of the 150th Anniversary of the Sydney University Great Hall they asked Fourth Wall Events to create a once in a lifetime (literally) sonnet lumiere for their exclusive guest list.

The challenge was to conceive, write, produce and execute an engaging story showcasing the history of the building and the university.

The Approach

Bringing to life the story of this amazing building became the focus for the show. The team used as many university performance resources as possible including actors and singers from the drama society, the graduate choir, rock bands and even the university organist. This included working closely with the Conservatorium of Music to provide a full orchestra and chamber ensemble for the occasion.

This production had it all, including over two hundred performers, a full wardrobe department, horses, angels on rooftops, an Aboriginal smoking ceremony and musical styles from rock to opera to classical symphony.

The Results

The award winning team of choreographers, directors, musical masters and designers made this landmark event one to be remembered for the next one hundred and fifty years. Compliments flowed from all sides of the event process and the team are looking forward to celebrating one hundred and seventy five years.
