The NSW Tourism Awards

The Brief

The Tourism Industry Council of New South Wales (TICNSW) engaged Fourth Wall Events to be the management face of the 2011 NSW Tourism Awards at both a Regional and National level.

Fourth Wall Events were to be first point of contact for over 300 nominees spanning 30 categories across the tourism industry spectrum including attractions, festivals and events, ecotourism, tour and transport operators, marketing and accommodation.

The Approach

Fourth Wall Events administered all aspects of the Awards submission and judging process including criteria review, design, marketing, newsletter production and entrant support.

The team provided personalised support to all nominees including the facilitation of free tailored workshops, coordination of individual mentoring sessions, and production of a step by step entrant DVD and at the conclusion of the process disseminated constructive and detailed feedback on all submissions.

The NSW Regional Tourism Organisations and fourth Wall Events worked hand in hand to support and encourage involvement within the Awards, recognizing the significance that Regional Tourism Organisations play in the promotion of high standards within the tourism industry. With an aim to continually raise the standard of entrants and submissions for New South Wales and provide a benchmark for best practice within the tourism industry Fourth Wall Events nurtured these relationships to ensure a collaborative and cohesive approach.

Fourth Wall Events also produced the Awards evening, which was held at Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in November 2011 and was attended by a number of high profile guests including the Minister of Tourism, George Souris, Sandra Chipchase, sponsors including AHA NSW, CountryLink, SCEC, Sydney Weekender7, Australian Turf Club, Ernst & Young, Caravan & Camping, Qantas, Google and Sydney Opera House.

The Results

In March 2012 an unprecedented eleven national titles were awarded to New South Wales based tourism operators at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards. These Awards represent excellence across all sectors of the industry and are the pinnacle of peer recognition. This success is testament to the collaborative approach, industry knowledge and continued support and involvement with the Tourism Industry.
