The Brief

Fourth Wall Events and Opera Australia have been partners for ten years, during that time we have produced amazing gala events in everything from Channel 7 studios, vineyards, Opera workshops to The Sydney Town Hall. In the Arts community these are seen as the highlight of the fundraising year and have included performances by some of the world’s best Opera singers.

The Approach

Fourth Wall Events have worked with leading Opera designers and directors to create amazing experiences for the guests and enjoyed access to the range of sets, props and costumes that could only be dreamed of. These included hanging twelve metre high ships ribs set pieces from Sydney Town Hall, to using Australian designed costumes as set pieces or staging the live auction as mini fashion shows.

Over ten years ago Fourth Wall Events worked with IBM to custom write a silent auction system where guests can bid from their tables and see updates immediately on the large screens in the room. This enables fundraising to co-exist with an intimate and dramatic night, and actually resulted in returns equal to live auctions.

The Results

The fundraising events covered everything from marquees in the Hunter Valley in the middle of vineyards to changing studios in Channel 7 and were delivered in black tie style and always focused on the primary objective of raising funds for the Opera. Each year the targets were exceeded and the events continue to grow even after over twenty five years of setting the standard in theatre fundraisers.
