Australian Construction Achievement Award
The Brief
The Australian Construction Achievement Award is an Award program staged by the Australian Constructors Association and Engineers Australia to ensure that the people who are building the nation’s infrastructure are recognised through the presentation of the industry’s most prestigious award.
The brief to Fourth Wall Events was to take the awards to the next level and ensure it remains the most prestigious award in the industry.
The Approach
The first change implemented by Fourth Wall Events, in conjunction with the Event Committee made up of industry and supporters of the Award, was to change the focus of the night onto the finalists and ultimately the winner. This was achieved by telling the story of each project and giving a clear insight into the strengths and unique qualities of each entrant.
A design was created that could be carried across the entire award program; from web-site to printed material, to the award compile and finally the set design. On the night the format was changed to give more time to tell the ‘story’ of the finalists and to then allow the room to discuss each project.
The web-site was designed to track interested parties for the award, resulting in a greater engagement between potential entrants and the event committee. The committee was then able to work with those who were interested in entering but needed more assistance, resulting in the highest entries on record.
The Results
The event in 2010 achieved the largest ticket sales in recent history and had the largest number of finalists since the program started. These awards are now seen as the ‘Oscars’ of the construction industry and included The Premier of Queensland as the guest speaker on the evening.
